So fascinating isn’t it! Her book is wonderful too - am reading it now. I just find the beauty parallels from past times to now so fascinating. Makes you remember how connected to the past we are I think!
So ace isn’t it - I spent ages reading about her afterwards. So many amazing people in history that we don’t hear enough about (because they aren’t white men essentially.) x
Oh I totally agree! This is why I collect vintage beauty products too - it’s such a fascinating glimpse into social and cultural history through beauty. Would you read more of this stuff if I posted it?
Yes definitely! A couple of years ago I visited the Mary Quant exhibition at the V&A in London, whilst it was primarily focused on fashion, there were displays of the original beauty products. I found it so interesting listening to and understanding why she created the types of make up she did - use of colour, product formulations etc.
Oh that’s so interesting! I didn’t make that exhibition but wish I had! I’ve always been obsessed with Victorian beauty potions, it’s all fascinating stuff!
Loved reading every word of this Anita, so interesting

Absolutely loved this Anita 🖤
Oh I’m so glad! I have more stuff in this vein coming up, beauty history is so fascinating.
Can't wait! x
Fascinating! I loved it all, especially the story about Sofonisba Anguissola. Thank you! 💐

I loved this post! I found it very fascinating to learn about beauty through the eyes of the Renaissance women.
It’s so fascinating isn’t it! What surprised you the most? X
I loved reading this piece. Definitely not enough exposure in the mainstream media behind the history of beauty!
